Flu Season is here!!!!

The flu season is now upon us and we are getting inundated with messages to "get the flu shot". Many people choose not to be vaccinated against the flu, but rather choose a more holistic route to avoid getting sick. But you may be in a situation in which flu shots are mandatory. Either situation, we can offer solutions...

There are several other options that have proven successful to avoid not only the flu but other common illnesses such as colds or stomach flu.

BASE Allergy Treatments - Strengthening the immune system and clearing nutritional deficiencies will help you to avoid viruses.

Homeopathics - There are several products that have been on the market for years which have shown great success:

• Influenzinum (Boiron) - a Homeopathic Nosode of the current Flu Vaccine (including H1N1). It naturally immunizes you from the current flu strains. This is taken once a week for 5 weeks. In a clinical study of 100 people who commonly contracted the flu every winter, 78% did not have the flu after taking Influenzinum the first wonter and 85% avoided the flu in the second year. It appeared to have cumulative preventive effectech year it was taken.
• Thymuline (Homeocan) - a Homeopathic Glandular that strengthens the Thymus gland. Taken along with Influenzinum has shown to boost the immune system and therefore strenthen the effect of the Influenzinum. It also protects you from other infections and viruses naturally.
• Oscillococcinum (Boiron) - a Homeopathic remedy that treats flu symptoms very quickly. It has been shown to shorten the duration and lessen the intensity of symptoms. It has become popular in the past few years.
• Cold-FX  (Affexa) - A herbal remedy that strengthens the immune system. Studies have shown success in reducing the incidence of flu. 
• Vitamins C and D - Take at least 1000 mg of Vitamin C per day. I recommend Energen-C powder. Take at least 1000 IU or up to 4000 IU of Vitamin D per day.  D-Drops are a convenient product.
• Getting a good night's sleep is always the best defence. 
• Eating a healthy diet and avoiding refined sugar and excess alcohol will help your immune system stay strong.
